IPE History

The Institute of Power Engineers has a long history. The Institute of Power Engineers, IPE, is a professional organization made up of Power Engineers and people working in related fields. The IPE is the unified voice of Power Engineers throughout Canada and the promotion of Safety is our business.

The Institute of Power Engineers was incorporated in 1940 with Corporate Affairs of Canada and the National office is located in Burlington, Ontario. The business of the Institute is managed by a National Board of Directors and has branch administrations that are located from the Canadian east to the west coast.

The Vancouver IPE

The Vancouver IPE branch was incorporated under the British Columbia Society Act, on December 12, 2002, as the "The British Columbia Institute of Power Engineers" (BCIPE),

One of the many purposes listed in the constitution is to certify and give the professional designation PE to members who meet the membership requirements of the BCIPE.

The BCIPE Mission Statement is "is the dedication to the promotion of workplace safety and training involving boiler and pressure vessel systems."

The BC Institute of Power Engineers will foster open dialogue and informed decision-making through meaningful and regular communication of boiler and pressure vessel safety and training information with the Regulator, industry, government, educators and the public.

The BCIPE, Victoria, Vancouver and Abbotsford branches have a positive forward-looking view and invite all Power Engineers and associated fields to join the Institute and grow with us.
